A little about our owner
Hello, and welcome to my small business ‘Kaitlin’s Country Touch’, I’m Kaitlin! I think it’s not only important, but more joyful to know the background of the small business you support.
I have owned and rode horses since I was 5 years old. Along the way, I branched into all disciplines and rode many different horses, making me the well-rounded equestrian I am today. I currently own two amazing horses. Corona, my 21-year-old mare, and Maverick, my 3-year-old gelding who has brought me the new experience of training and starting a horse. I am 30 years young, mother to a 1.5-year-old farmer in training and “married” to an amazing man. We live on a beautiful 140 acres in the Cowichan Valley on our family run dairy farm, so you could say I truly have the country touch in each creation.
I had a passion for woodworking all through school, which gave me the knowledge and skills using tools. I started making mason jars and signs for family and friends that leaded into taking part in a few craft fairs 4 years ago, all while working full time as an operations manager. Fast forward to 2021 and having a baby, we made the decision for me to stay home. Right then and there I knew I wanted to work on my business full time (as much as a new baby will let you full-time) and see how much it could grow. I’ve always wanted to be more involved in the equestrian community outside of just ridding, so I buckled down and learned everything I could about mule tape and mohair! Over the years I have used mule tape and mohair tack and always loved it. I knew it was a material I trusted and believed I could create some quality and beautiful pieces!
My goal for 2023 is to sponsor riders to help my brand get out in the world while providing you with a quality tack you can trust and looks amazing. You can also expect to see me showcasing my product at clinics, rodeos, and barrel races this year so come by and say hi!
